Met him in Brooklyn during the ACC tourney in 2022. Cool cat. Had a baddie with him. And thats the only reason i didnt ask him for a pic. No thirst zone. But it was still cool to meet him. One of my fav blue devils of all time.
I still cannot comprehend how Pelphrey for UK literally stood like a statue when he was supposed to be part of the double team. From the moment Laetner catches the ball, his feet don’t move! Unreal and a boneheaded play on his part to do NOTHING on defense!
Broadcasters in the 80s and 90s had a really bad habit of cutting to the bench and coach immediately after game winners, just like MJ's shot in 1989 against the Cavs. I just don't understand why they take attention away from the player who made the shot, and I'm very happy that nonsense has been phased out
That is certainly one way to describe the consensus national player of the year, 2-time ACC player of the year, 1st Team All-American, and USA basketball Male Athlete of the Year.
I was in Indiana at a restaurant and EVERYONE there was rooting against Duke as Indiana had to play the winner next and they didn't want Duke. At the time I hated Indiana and I was the only one cheering for Duke and going crazy with that shot. I guess I was lucky I didn't get mugged 🙂
Never not before. The two guys guarding Laettner just stood back and let him take the shot with no defense. Like they thought it was impossible he’d actually make the shot in time.
He got the action, he got the motion, well, the boy can play.... I remember that game and that song being linked to Dawkins.
Mike showed out that game man!

That one dribble was just to make it more exciting.
That was a ball fake move to create rhythm and a better shot.
My 1st cousin

Dayum. This team really knew how to win.
Big Blue Nation funded the 30-for-30 "I Hate Christian Laettner" based solely on these 2.1 tournament seconds. Incredible everything on this play.
Having Battier was like having 2 extra players on defense.
Maaaaaaaan fuck yall! - Hate from Kentucky 😂
Chrissy was a straight up DB and I hated watching him when he was with the wolves
LONG time ago and it's still crystal clear. The golden age of college basketball I think

Jay Williams at the end throws the ball to Maryland center😂😂😂 Savage.
Football has nothing to do with basketball. Idk why that commentator said that

He would have had to be the Second Coming for his NBA career to outshine the fame he achieved in college.
In this game Laetner shot 100% from the field and from the foul line for a total of 30 points.
Nice, college sports before it became professional.
The best day a journeyman player ever had.

I forget at what point in the tournament this occurred in, as in what round? Sweet 16, elite 8… final four..?
Elite 8
Number 34 didn’t play defense and cost Kentucky the game
Hi Beth. GS76. 😉
Anyone ever notice how Kentucky and Duke were wearing, basically, the same uniforms? By Champion.
i watch this on tv. i was in 7th grade elementary school.
The only negative aspect..how blah were those commentators? We needed an Al Michaels.
Saw this live, huge Duke fan, great moment in time ❤
Maybe defend the shot Kentucky??
1 in a million outcome
Those Cheerleaders believed !
Greatest assist in basketball history?!
Superb defense by 34.. he was just watching..😂
Best NCAA Men’s Basketball career since Walton.
I still hate laettner.
Where was the defense just before CL shot?
Straight CASH!!
And then he went on to suck in the nba...
12pts 7rbs and 3ass a game shooting 48%fg and 82%ft and banking 60 million sucks ? ok.
Winning!!!
Hurley has gotten a couple more rings.
that was his brother I think
I remember watching this on tv as a kid. Christian Latner was a beast.

Damn it, I hate DUKE. This is a dagger every time I watch it. Why the hell do I keep watching it 🙄
Simi Valley California boy
All of the edgy, bitter little youngsters who insists Shaq was better, and this game meant nothing are childish fools
Greatest college play. No question. Dude had the nerve to actually make a fake before making the shot!
Maybe number 3. Toss up for Nova buzzer beater from half court over NC and NC State put back over Houston. Those won titles.
@@arch0049 you’re missing the point.pun intended
And that was it for his career
I am glad that number 34 on Kentucky got a good view,. He seemed like a spectator.
